Dr Vera Krymskaya is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. Dr Krymskaya has been leading an accomplished research group for a number of years, investigating signalling mechanisms in lung diseases such as BHD, lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), pulmonary arterial hypertension and asthma. Dr Krymskaya’s group identified the function of the TSC2 gene in human LAM cells and was instrumental in determining whether rapamycin could be a potential therapy for LAM. Dr Krymskaya’s lab is currently studying the signalling pathways implicated in BHD.
