The Tobino et al study of lung lesions is the latest addition to the BHD Literature Database. The authors sought to describe diagnostic parameters to differentiate between lung lesions implicated in BHD syndrome and those in lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM). Tobino et al report that quantitative analysis of CT scans of cysts in 14 females with BHD syndrome and 52 with LAM showed significant differences with respect to zonal predominance, diffusing capacity and size of cysts. However, family history of pneumothorax was maintained as the most significant diagnostic variable to differentiate BHD syndrome and LAM.
