The BHD Literature Database has been updated with a new report by Michels et al. The authors reported the case of a young man who presented with pneumomediastinum and cervicofacial emphysema. He had none of the characteristic symptoms of BHD, but his family history included multiple reports of pneumothorax. He was tested for BHD and found to be positive.
The authors noted that pneumomediastinum and cervicofacial emphysema may also point to BHD and doctors should take care to consider family history in individuals that present with these conditions.
